Sir Knights,

What an honor it is to be among so many good men and leaders. I’d like to start this newsletter by offering my congratulations to all the newly elected and installed Masonic and York Rite officers. Too often, we move through our busy days and forget that Freemasonry is, at its core, a volunteer organization, and each of us carries a different cable tow. But the dedication and willingness of so many of you to be servant leaders is truly inspiring, and I’m grateful to serve alongside you.

A heartfelt thank you to our banquet committee for hosting a fantastic Saints John Day celebration in June. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the ceremony and education were spot on. Thank you for your hard work and your commitment to delivering education, brotherhood, and a great time during our events.

On July 26th, Amarillo Commandery No. 48 hosted the District 8 School of Instruction. Six Sir Knights from Lubbock attended: EC Zakary Wyatt, GE Johnny Davis, CG Dustin Delano, EP (PC) Justin Glosson, Treasurer (PC) Paul Guillory, and District 8 Instructor and PC Chris Bates. For our Commandery, this was a strong turnout, and I believe we all walked away knowing more than we did when we arrived. Eminent Grand Sentinel Eddy Peebles did an excellent job explaining the tactics and gave us valuable insight into how he will evaluate our inspection.

Please mark your calendar: our Commandery Inspection is scheduled for November 8th at 8 a.m.

If you cannot attend, I need to know as soon as possible so we can fill your position. Please don’t wait until the last moment to inform us. While the inspection is one of the most important events of our year, what matters most to me is that the candidate receives the best Order of the Temple experience possible. I encourage you all to study your parts and attend our tactics practices, but above all, come into this with the candidate on your heart, and let the score fall where it may.

Looking ahead, on August 9th we will host a School of Instruction in the morning covering Red Cross and Malta. In the afternoon, we will confer all three orders on candidates not just from our own Commandery, but also from others in the district. El Paso may be sending one, Midland has two to three, and we’ll have candidates from Lubbock and Floydada as well. It will be a long day, but an incredibly valuable one, with the support of current Grand Line officers and Past Grand Commanders. This is a great opportunity to learn. I encourage all of you to participate.

Since we didn’t hold an official meeting in June, I want to take a moment to recognize those of you who have served in the U.S. Army. The Army was founded on June 3rd, 1784, and this month we once again celebrated our freedom on July 4th. Thank you to all the Sir Knights who have served our great nation and protected our rights and liberty to live free and pursue happiness.

May we all pursue that happiness, and use it to serve others.

Galatians 5:13
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”

In Faith Hope and Brotherly Love,

    Eminent Commander Zakary W. Wyatt.

From the Eminent Commander
