Companions,

At our last stated assembly, the committees faithfully presented their proposals, and I was pleased to share their work with those in attendance. While our numbers were few, the discussion was strong and productive.

For the benefit of all, printed copies of each proposal were distributed at the meeting. The intent of these changes is straightforward: to remove redundant passages already covered in Grand Law, and to refine wording where it has been vague or open to misinterpretation. Our goal is a set of bylaws that are clear, concise, and transparent—documents that will guide our Council with confidence for years to come. Improving on the hard work already completed in our past.

The committees also presented budget proposals designed to provide greater stability and sustainability. Chief among these were adjustments to dues and endowments:

  • Dues: Proposed increase to $60 annually plus per capita (about $6.50/month, a $4.00/month increase).
  • Endowments: Proposed increase to $1,000.00.

If you have questions, concerns, or additional insights, I encourage you to reach out to the committees before our next meeting. This is your opportunity to help shape the future of our Council. Voting will be by paper ballot with each proposed amendment listed clearly. The tally will take place by an appointed committee at the Recorder’s desk.

Thank you for your support and commitment to this important work. Together, we are strengthening the foundation of Lubbock Council No. 183—ensuring its vitality for the generations who will follow us.

Fraternally,

James Arthur Clark
